Details: This is a really great car. The only reason I´m selling it is that my husband is being stationed overseas and we had to pick a vehicle one vehicle to take with us. It has a little under 157,000 miles. The engine has less, though I don´t know how much less. It reliably takes me on out-of-state road trips and on my daily commute to school.It´s a 5 speed and gets great gas mileage.It is turboed, has leather seats, heated front seats, a moon roof, cruise control, stereo controls on the steering wheel (not currently hooked up), brand new tires, heated mirrors, air conditioning and heat, power windows and locks, tilt steering wheel, am/fm stereo and cd player. The back seats fold down, which is great for travel.It is in ´good´ condition, by KBB standards which places it at $3400. Even at ´fair´ it is worth $2750.Below is more information about what has been replaced recently and what needs to be done. This Bug was purchased as a non running project on the day of the earthquake. After eight months of work the car is now very road worthy and capable of being an everyday driver. I exercise it down the highway at least once a week. Since I purchased the car the following has been done:Replaced alternatorNew BatteryNew window rubberRebuilt CarburetorNew front end bushingsNew steering damperReplaced gas tank and fuel sending unitNew AntennaReplaced seats and door panelsNew tiresEmpi rimsTinted windshieldFull tune upOil changeAccording to paperwork obtained with the car the engine was overhauled about six thousand miles ago, given a new clutch and had a new paint job at the same time. The car sat under a tree for the past five years and the paint has suffered and needs a professional buffing. It looks very good from a distance but like I said it needs a good buffing. I failed with a towel and elbow grease. As of today the tires have less than 100 miles on them. The EMPI rims had the new tires installed and balanced at Eugene´s Tires in Thornburg. The only things not working are the horn and the radio. I have the parts to fix the horn but not the knowhow. When connected the horn beeps sometimes when you make a turn. I have a new antenna for the radio but I haven´t hooked it up. I don´t know if the radio would work. And when the engine was put back in after installing the generator the heater cable wasn´t hooked up. I have a new cable and kit if that is the reason. Very little rust on this car. The floor board looks like it had a professional repair.
